What Does a RIP Actually Do?

Your artwork may begin as: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW. PDF, PNG, or TIFF

These files contain color information—not instructions for individual printhead nozzles.

A DTF printer cannot interpret artwork directly.

Instead, the RIP converts every pixel into precise firing instructions for each printhead.

For every pixel on the image, the RIP must determine:

  • How much Cyan?
  • How much Magenta?
  • How much Yellow?
